Fees & Insurance
Therapy is an investment in meaningful, lasting change. Below you’ll find current session fees, out-of-network reimbursement, Thrizer, Good Faith Estimates, and the cancellation policy.
Out-of-network benefits and superbills
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. Many insurance plans offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network therapy, depending on your specific benefits.
If you would like to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance provider before beginning therapy to confirm your out-of-network mental health benefits, deductible, reimbursement rate, and any requirements for submitting claims.
Please note that Kaiser is often a notable exception and typically does not provide out-of-network reimbursement for therapy.
Using Thrizer for out-of-network benefits
I partner with Thrizer, a platform that helps simplify the out-of-network reimbursement process. Thrizer can submit claims on your behalf and help you use your benefits with less administrative work.
Thrizer Pay
- You pay only your estimated portion — such as your co-insurance — plus Thrizer’s service fee.
- Thrizer pays me directly for the full session fee, so you don’t need to pay upfront and wait for reimbursement.
- Designed to feel more like an in-network experience while using your out-of-network benefits.
OON Pay
- You pay the full session fee at the time of your appointment.
- Thrizer submits the insurance claim on your behalf.
- Once your insurance processes the claim, you receive any eligible reimbursement minus Thrizer’s service fee.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate to clients who are uninsured or who are not using insurance to pay for services. A Good Faith Estimate outlines the expected cost of non-emergency health care services, including psychotherapy.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling a service or at any time during treatment.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to dispute the bill through the patient-provider dispute resolution process.
Cancellations and no-shows
I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.
